Found your blog through Nancy White's Us/Them wiki. Your comments on this devistating disease are right on.

My mother was bedridden in a nursing home with AD for 8 years. I kept thinking if she were my dog, people would comfort me with the thought that the "humane" thing to do would be to put her to sleep. Yet because she was a human, we could not treat her humanely.
