The scammers and spammers are at it again—always with increasingly smarmier angles. Today I received email that said, “This e-mail has been sent to inform you that your web site URL has been submitted to our search engine database.” But to verify that my url was real, they directed me to click on their url. Further, their email advised me that if the message had been sent to me in error I should click at another link to clarify.
But then it got really cute. This was addressed to one Atty. Ernest Svenson, aka Ernie, the Attorney and contained Ernie’s blog url.
How did this happen? My guess is that these turkeys were using a new form of an automated crawler, spider, sniffer, snooper or scumware. Ernie’s url is indeed in my blogrolls and these dummies stole the wrong url, then had the chutzpa-stuffed gonads to ask me to verify, thus giving away both my identity and Ernie’s.
That alone stinks, but in addition to this injurious affront, they added insult. I’ve been called many things in my time, some were neither flattering nor false. But this is the first time anyone has stooped so low as to call me an attorney. … an ATTORNEY.
I am not amused. In fact, It has caused me nervous anxiety and my back has started to ache from this libel. Does anyone know a good lawyer? Or is that an oxymoron?
